A reflective starting point
What is Five of Disks — Worry asking you to look at?
Meaning changes with the position, the surrounding cards and your question. Take what follows as a language, not a verdict.
Upright
Face the worries one at a time, pragmatically and without catastrophising; ask for concrete help.
At first sight
Worries, financial or health difficulties, anxiety about the future. It points to a period of prolonged tension linked to material security, often more wearing than dramatic.
Within you
The anxiety that arises when stability wavers: the mind circles concrete problems without finding peace, and the unease becomes a burden in itself.
On the path
Earth in Geburah, Severity, with Mercury in Taurus in the first decan: Mercurial intelligence frets within the slowness of Taurus. Worry is the stability of Chesed shaken by Geburah, a tension which, given the inert nature of Earth, tends to last.
The shadow
Ill-dignified, it signals mistrust, a sense of poverty, blockage, giving up the search for solutions.
Reversed
In the Thoth tradition a reversed card is read through its dignity with the neighbouring cards; this is its shadow side.
The anxiety begins to ease and solutions come into view; or worries ignored that pile up.
In love, work and spirit
Love. Tensions linked to practical matters, home or money; a need for mutual support.
Work. Financial difficulties, job instability, pressure; reviewing the budget helps.
Spirit. Cultivating trust even when the ground under your feet seems to move.

Crowley's note
In the Thoth deck five disks arranged in an inverted pentagram carry the symbols of the tattvas, the Indian elements, in a tangle of tense lines: matter restless, at friction with itself.
