A reflective starting point
What is Seven of Wands — Valour asking you to look at?
Meaning changes with the position, the surrounding cards and your question. Take what follows as a language, not a verdict.
Upright
Defend your position with courage: victory is possible but calls for personal commitment.
At first sight
Courage, determination, resistance in the face of opposition. It points to battles fought with valour, even against superior forces, and to victories that are possible but not guaranteed.
Within you
The courage that emerges when structures are no longer enough and only personal trust remains; the individual's fighting energy, which must however avoid seeing enemies everywhere.
On the path
Fire in Netzach, emotional but unstable Victory, with Mars in Leo in the third decan: energy falls below the balance of Tiphareth and loses coordination. Valour is the individual courage that makes up for lost order: you can win, but only with the heart.
The shadow
Ill-dignified, it signals stubbornness, hostility, battles lost for lack of strategy.
Reversed
In the Thoth tradition a reversed card is read through its dignity with the neighbouring cards; this is its shadow side.
Weariness in the fight, doubt about your own strength; or excessive combativeness.
In love, work and spirit
Love. Defending the bond from interference or doubts; do not turn every discussion into a battle.
Work. Competition, defending positions, against-the-grain initiatives carried through with grit.
Spirit. Courage as a spiritual virtue: staying true to yourself even without support.

Crowley's note
Crowley sets a rough, unhewn staff before the six ordered wands: individual valour taking the place of collective discipline.
