Stay or Go Spread

The real reason for the doubt, then two mirrored roads, staying and leaving, each with its fear and what it offers; finally what you don't see and the key to deciding.

The positions

  1. Position 1

    The real reason

What truly drives the thought of leaving, beneath the stated reasons.

Why am I really thinking about it?

  2. Position 2

    The fear if you stay

What the querent fears will happen by staying.

What do I fear if I stay?

  3. Position 3

    The fear if you go

What the querent fears will happen by leaving.

What do I fear if I go?

  4. Position 4

    What staying offers

What the current job can still give over the next six to twelve months.

    What does staying give me?

  5. Position 5

    What leaving offers

What a new road can open over the next six to twelve months.

    What does leaving give me?

  6. Position 6

    What you don't see

The overlooked factor that changes the weight of the choice.

    What am I not seeing?

  7. Position 7

    The key to the choice

What really matters in deciding: not the decision, which stays with the querent, but the criterion for making it.

What should I base the choice on?

How to read it

  • The top row is the road of staying, the bottom row the road of leaving: they are read as a mirror, fear with fear and offer with offer.
  • The cards describe the two roads and do not choose between them: card 7 gives the criterion, the decision stays with the querent.
  • A Disks card in positions 4 or 5 speaks of material security; economic and contractual matters need someone who knows the case.

Positions to read together

  • The fear if you stay ↔ The fear if you go. I due timori a confronto: quale paura pesa davvero nella scelta.
  • What staying offers ↔ What leaving offers. Ciò che offrono le due strade, a confronto nello stesso arco di tempo.
  • The real reason ↔ The key to the choice. Dal motivo vero alla chiave della scelta: se la decisione risponde al bisogno che l'ha fatta nascere.

Origin

A recent seven-card spread from online career guides (Unmei Tarot's "Stay or Go") for those thinking of leaving their job: the two roads are read as a mirror, with the fears and what each one offers. Here the last card is not a verdict but the key to the choice.
